Methodology
Insurance ranking and selection: we compare carriers on (1) financial-strength rating from AM Best, S&P, or Moody's (we exclude carriers below Aโ), (2) state-licensed availability (we track which carriers actually issue policies in which states โ many advertise nationally and only operate in 30+ states), (3) NAIC complaint index relative to industry baseline (1.0), and (4) actual quoted price from sample driver / homeowner / renter profiles. We do not accept advertising in exchange for ranking position. Pages are refreshed quarterly; rate data is updated within 30 days of any meaningful market shift (e.g., the 2024โ2025 auto-insurance hardening cycle).

Insurance Basics You Should Know
How much life insurance?
A common rule of thumb is 10-12x your annual income. If you earn $75,000, aim for $750K-$900K in coverage. Term life is usually the most affordable option for most families.
Homeowners vs. renters insurance
Homeowners insurance covers the structure and your belongings. Renters insurance only covers your personal property and liability โ typically $15-30/month.
When to shop for new rates
Review your insurance annually and after major life events (marriage, home purchase, new baby). You could save 20-30% by comparing quotes.
Bundling discounts
Combining home and auto insurance with the same carrier can save 5-25%. Ask about multi-policy discounts before buying separately.
